Brody's Initial Trials

  1. Brody's initial trials were fraught with what appears to be false positives. I give him some leeway in sniffing all the containers first, but I'm not sure he is "tuned in" to the specific scent I am asking him to point out (ground anise). Backed up at this point and began again, giving him more practice at a single container with a new scent (Earl Grey tea) and more prolonged reinforcement for signaling the correct one cleanly.

  2. Going back to the beginning is ALWAYS a good thing! Margaret Simek (nosework instructor) recommends feeding at/on the source. I don't think its an issue of odor; its a matter of "explaining" to Brody again what it is you are paying for!
